Our Brighton Summer Wellness Guide

Our Brighton Summer Wellness Guide

Summer's finally here and there's nowhere else we would rather be than by the seaside. Here we break down the very best things to make you feel good in sunny B-town.

Eat:

Brunch

Cafe Rust: Head here for the ultimate breakfast of champions. Their veggie break is a Brightonian staple.

Lunch

You Juice: The best smoothies, juices and brunch you will ever eat. Very community focussed, you will feel right at home munching your eggs in the sunshine or with fellow regulars.

Dinner

Cin Cin: Our founder's go-to restaurant. Based around traditional Italian cooking with freshly made pasta, a carefully thought out wine list, if that's your thing, and literally the best focaccia maybe in the world.

Do:

Sauna

If you didn't know sauna culture is on the rise then you don't know what you've missed. But did you know that it all started in Brighton? Beach Box is a traditional wood fired sauna right on the beach and it's our founder's favourite place. Think hot saunas, cold showers, sea dips, body scrubs, essential oils and a host of events to help you connect to your body using the power of heat. Head in with pals or go by yourself, either way you'll feel refreshed, renewed and will make a bunch of new friends in the process.

Beach Day

If we could tell you three things about having a beach day in Brighton they would be:

- Find a spot far to the right or to the left of the pier to avoid the crowds coming down from London

- Situate yourself near a toilet and a cafe - they are few and far between 😬

- Pack a parasol, a yoga mat (the pebbles are a killer) and a lot of suncream. Don't forget to wash off the sweat, salt and sunblock after a day in the sun with our juicy sustainable skincare.

Yoga

If you want to get in a bit of a stretch then don't miss out on a yoga class or two. Brighton is the home of yoga in the UK and there are so many studios to choose from but we've done the hard work for you. Head to Ekah for hot yoga with a twist and an epic sea view, especially in their early morning class, or get flowing at Space Yoga for a powerful yoga class in an a reclaimed church with mega peaceful vibes.

Psychic Mediumship

Take a trip to see our founder herself in her other job as a Professional Psychic Medium. Based out of The Tree of Life Centre in Hove (she also does online readings too) Danielle was born psychic and has studied her profession for almost 7 years to craft her skills. She specialises in readings that get to the point, so she can guide her clients in a way that feels constructive and useful in their daily life. There are no crystal balls, no spells and no fluff. You can find out more about what she does and how here.

Float

Ok we know it's a little 'woo woo' but if you haven't hopped into a float tank yet, now is the time to give it a go. The Float Spa offers hourly sessions in their cosy pods to help you activate a deep mediative state and simply relax. If you like, you can kick-start your treatment with an infrared sauna to really get the wellness juices flowing.

Massage

There's not much more to say than the best massage hands-down is by the wonderful Elkah at To Be Well. More than just a massage therapist, Elkah works to revive sore muscles, rejuvenate tired bodies and restore your energy back to tip top condition. Plus she's just so lovely to be around, you'll leave feeling like your body and your mind has been given a huge hug.

Shop

If you know anything about Brighton, then you will know we have some of the best independent shops in the UK. Whether you're looking for unique vintage pieces, one of a kind antiques or maybe something a little more special (our jewellery quarter is world famous), you will find something special in the laines. Plus, you can shop our Dynamic Duo in one of our fave fancy gift shops right in the heart of the North Laines at Dowse.

Swim

Not really a seafaring person but fancy a dip? Check out the Sea Laines our brand new outdoor swimming pool right alongside the beach. It's heated (barely 😂) but it's a great way to get moving without worrying about waves, jellyfish and sharks - we're joking about the last one don't worry!

Take The Train

We know it sounds super random but you have to take the Volks Railway along the promenade. Originally built in the 1830s by Mr Volks himself, it's the worlds oldest electric railway steeped in Brighton history. Speed down the walkway enjoying our beachside nature reserve and getting a feel for Brighton in years gone by.

Explore:

Sea Cliffs

Take a walk along the sea cliffs to nearby Rottingdean and get in your steps whilst soaking in the sights and the sunshine.

Lewes

Fancy a day trip away from the crowds? Hop on the train to Lewes, Brighton's next door neighbor and home of the famous Lewes Bonfire Night (which is crazy). This historical site has a ton of stuff to do. You can visit the castle, pick up some pottery, have a wonder around the old town, shop for vintage treasures, take a dip in the word famous, fresh water lido and pop into Radical Living to pick up a tube or two of our rescued food heroes.

Get Lost in Nature

The most amazing thing about living in Brighton is we have both the sea and the downs on our doorstep. The Downs is a national park that spreads for over 200 miles across the South East. Think cliff walks, ancients forests and getting lost in nature. If a day out in the woods is your thing, then hop on the bus, step out of town and get exploring the Downs.

One day is really not enough time to enjoy everything that our sweet little town has to offer, but we guarantee after a day trip you will totally understand why we love it so much and why My Skin Feels was born out of the life we lead by the sea.
